Prime Years Academy uses play-based open educational approach within self-contained classrooms. Curriculum is based on developmental stages, characteristics, and needs and interests of children. The curriculum is not a model of any one curriculum approach, rather a collection of research based developmental theories. This approach views children as capable of participating in and influencing their own behavior as they interact with the environment.
The program focuses on the development of fine and gross motor skills, socialization, literacy (reading and writing), problem solving, and creativity through play. These basic abilities form the foundation of all subsequent learning.
Children may choose to participate in a variety of activities included in learning centers. The activities encompass the areas of art, science, math, music, language development, dramatic play, reading readiness, listening skills, outdoor activities, and field trips.
Our teachers guide children through the learning process by intentionally exposing them to experiences, both indoors and outdoors, that support their growth in all areas of development.
Prime Years Academy integrates a uniquely developed Islamic Education program into the daily experiences of the children. The program is age appropriate and is guided by three principals:
Furthermore, as Arabic is the language of Qur’an, Hadith, and much of the preserved Islamic literature, our program aims to expose children to the Arabic language and familiarize them with its common words, sounds, and symbols.
